 Post subject: Large Capacitor off Alternator

Does anyone else have a large capacitor installed off the positive charging cable coming off the alternator? I have a 12000uF capacitor that is installed which seems rather large and it is attached tot he side of the engine bay next to the alternator? I have a W50 and a motorola MA12N600 Alternator with an external regulator ( I believe this is stock).

Not sure whether they are using this to smooth the output voltage or what.

My first guess, is a zap stop cap to help with hight voltage transients. But probably a NewMar cap with it being that big, used to reduce noise between 60KHz to 100Mhz. There are other types of interference suppressers, used on alternators.

I removed the capacitor and don't notice any difference. One less thing in the way.
