Welcome to the forum, we sail on the bay and down south. Hope you enjoy the boat as much as we have over the years.

Thank you Puff Card!! We will be coming to the bay around Sept. Perhaps you could recommend a mooring or two. Not sure where we want to be on the bay. I will need to be able to fly back and forth from New Orleans. And with any luck, our paths may cross. Wishing you fair winds this summer.

Hello, there: You've got a T37 that's just "broken in": 466 is pretty late in the production run. The name of your boat is quite evocative for me, as I had some interesting adventures in and around the Stella Maris club on Long Island in the Bahamas back in the day. The memories are stil fresh and entertaining after all these years.
The Chesapeake is a fairly large area, and where you pick as a temporary base of operations pretty much depends on whether you want to be in an urban or rural area. With Enterprise car rentals willing to come pick you up most anywhere, getting to an airport is fairly easy. You've got BVI if you want to be close to Annapolis or Baltimore (urban), Richmond for the middle bay and Norfolk for the lower bay or eastern shore. Not as many moorings in the Chesapeake as in New England; more docks. It would be shame to not take in Annapolis: though a bit pricey, it's a nice boating spot.

Update--sorry we havent jumped in and posted more. We sailed out of New London, CT Burrs Marina mooring ball from June to November 1, 2016 including Block Island trip and many trips on the sounds. Tartan 37 is a wonderful boat and is a blast to sail! It was cold when we left but we really enjoyed trip down the East river, from NY harbor to Cape May, up the Delaware, C&D Canal, Chesapeake down to ICW, inside for Hatteras, Outside from Morehead/Beaufort NC to Charleston, SC then across to Jacksonville, FL where we have been hiding out in Saint Johns River for 2017 and 2018 Hurricane seasons. We added solar, davits, head/macerator pump/hoses rebuild, bottom paint(had to sand back down to barrier coat due to older bottom paint flaking off and losing adhesion), and some bright work incuding a compound and wax. Current project is to replace the thru hulls that dont have backing plates this month and plan on heading further south by Christmas. We want to say "Hi everybody" to all of our fellow Tartan 37's . Dont think we will make the Bahamas this winter but Dry Tortugas and rest of the Keys look out!
