I read somewhere that in order to rebed stanchions you need to pull out the top cabinets on portside. Wow! Is that the only way?
Has anybody installed access holes/ covers to get at the stanchion backer plates?

Any comments, advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,

I rebed my stanchions and installed backing plates about 5 years ago. I didn't remove any cabinets except the small cabinet in the head if I recall. To gain access to the stanchions above the cabinets in the galley and salon, I cut access holes with a hole saw and angle drill. I then fabricated covers for the openings.

The access holes on mine are about 4.5 inches in diameter. Done by previous owners.
