Beer canning port side head area

Forgive me if there is already beaucoupe in the archives on this topic: I can't find anything. In essence, is this a real potential problem or a nuisance?

I am not sure what you mean by "beer canning". I had thought this referred to flexing of the hull skin when under wave pressures. I have not noticed this on my boat in 24 years. There is some slight appearance of the bulkhead showing on the outer skin if you stare at it long enough. I guess I would need more explanation to respond to your question.

Thanks for the reply, Ray: I can't remember where I first heard of this issue, but a couple of years ago I was emailing back and forth with Tim Donnely who was yard manager at Durbecks when the mold(s) for our boat was made. He recounted how at some point he was called in to consult on this issue by an owner. Guess I should try and connect with him once again to clarify. I'm compounding, polishing and waxing my original gelcoat hull and notice the topsides are somewhat flexible just forward of the main bulkhead. Funny how you can own and sail aboat for years and not notice an issue intil you really focus on amparticular area.

There was a problem on some of our boats of flexing on the hull right behind the "head". I removed the inside parts and strengthened it with cloth and epoxy.
The article which mentioned it, was from a paper copy of an every 3 month Tartan 37 publication (I forget the name) which came with our boat when I bought it over 10 years ago now.
