So... long story - or maybe not so long, my centerboard and hull parted ways in deep water. Tartan won't give me plans for a new one but will build one. I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with this, and if anyone can provide information about how the centerboard is attached from their maintenance. I dive under looks like it took any brackets holding it in place with the centerboard. Best guess is the bolts holding the brackets corroded (Odd because I would thing everything was stainless).

I'm hoping I can dig out the remains of the bolts and glass new ones in, have new brackets fabricated and the whole process won't be overly complex, but I'm open to any information that can be provided.

And just as a crazy thought... has anyone considered turning a shoal draft boat into a deep water keel but just building the stub keel down a couple more feet? Would that be pure foolishness or a possibility?

We plan on removing ours this fall for a winter rehab project. If you still need info, I might be able to supply pics and measurements.

interesting idea on putting an extension on your keel. For me personally, I love the ability to slip into shallow anchorages and channels.
I am interested in improving fairing, shape, and possibly gasket the keel and center board slot. If anyone has done anything in the areas. Ours has clearly been used as a depth sounder by previous owners! Rolling Eyes
