Has anyone out there ever hooked up an electric water pump to a manual toilet? When the "open" valve is switched, instead of pumping the water in manually, the pump automatically turns on and fills the bowl. A person still needs to pump out the contents of the bowl.

This seems like it would provide a longer life for the manual toilet while not only being easier.

Anyone tried this ?

Interesting theory. What stops it when it hits the water line? You can't very well count on gravity taking out the excess since there may be something blocking the exit...
And that would be handier for guests. You can leave the valve on "pump dry" full time and have a flush button to kick off the pump for a set time or as long as they hold the button.

I just finished this little project; T-ed off the existing cold water line at the sink and hooked it up to the toilet. I purchased and installed a small ball valve switch right at the toilet controls.

1. turn the head switch to flush, turn on the new ball valve switch, the toilet fills ups. Cut off switch at desired water level.
2. turn the head switch to empty and crank to empty.

The admiral loves it and by using tank water there is no salt water buddies to cause it to stink. For those of you that don't have salt water to contend with it's not a problem.

When fresh water is a premium I have the old salt water line T-ed to the toilet line to switch it back. If my boat was not in salted water I would put a small electric water pump to pump in outside water and accomplish the same thing.
