The lids on the reefer on "Aurora" are not insulated: just 3/4" plywood with "Formica" top & bottom, trimmed with teak. Were any of the boats originally fitted with insulated lids? To add insulation and have it look "professional" wont be easy!

Mine were not insulated either but I added a retro kit from Joe Palmer years ago when he was still running Classic Boat Parts (?) selling aftermarket Tartan parts.
I guess you could build a mold easy enough and make your own out of FRP and pour in place insulation.

Holy moley, Tortuga: you're a better man than me if you'd describe building a mold, doing the lay-up and foaming "easy enough"! Compared with building a Saturn V rocket, I suppose so. Anybody have one of these "retro" kits just layin' around?

We always had a foam filled block on each door covered by same material as interior of icebox. (fiberglass I assume.)
We had one fall off and it was mearly glued to the underside. We reaffixed with a wood screw in the center.
