This is the first good flight of our new cruising chute in a 10 - 12 knot breeze. We made a good three knots upstream against the 1.5 knot downstream current. Our normal day sail is to beat to weather down the river for 4 - 5 miles, than spend three times as long returning upriver on the downwind leg. The new spinnaker should make the return trip a lot faster! We weren't using the main because on our last tack before turning downwind, the mainsheet pad eye pulled out of the boom. Looks like the screw holes were a bit corroded.

Great shot of your chute. We bought a Tartan 30 in Portland about 16 or 17 years ago. I remember when we flew up there from San Francisco for the sea trial. We pulle out of the marina and headed up river. Sailed for about 90 minutes in the same direction then pulled right back into the marina without covering any ground at all. It was a great sail just that the scenery got kinda boring after a while.

Our mainsheet bale pulled out of the boom too about 5 years ago. I tied the sheet around the boom with a bowline to get us home. That bowline his been there ever since. Very Happy
