Hi All --

Here is a link to a small video I made of a passage from Barkley Sound on the West coast of Vancouver Island to the Columbia River. It's a 30 hour passage, and you have to time it right to get good weather off shore and good conditions for crossing the infamous Columbia River Bar.

This video will be a part of a complete trip report I'm putting together and will post soon.

Enjoy!

For some this link my work better:

Hi Jay,

I am not able to view your file. I get the error "This page requires AC_RunActiveContent.js". Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark --

Are you by any chance using the Safari web browser on a Mac? I have the same issue. The "missing" file is there and the video plays fine in Firefox. I'll test in IE tonite.

Hi Jay,

I use IE 6x. I can only click "OK" and the file never loads. Apparently websites that use embedded ("active") content and applications?which can include Adobe Flash, Adobe Acrobat, or Shockwave files were impacted by a manditory Microsoft update earlier this year. Depending on how you loaded the file to your web server: APPLET, EMBED, or OBJECT elements, there may be some additional programming or files required on your hosting website. You will find information about this by doing a Google search on "ac_runactivecontent.js"

Can't wait to see your file!

Mark

You might want to try getting it in YouTube if you continue to have troubles.

I've added a second link above that removes a javascript that detects your flash version number that has not been working for some browsers. I've also re-encoded the video at a smaller bit-rate. I am not using YouTube because I develop Flash applications at work and need to learn how to get this working. Also I'm working on a complete trip report that will be posted to my web site and I want to embed the video on that page. No problems until upgrading to Flash CS3, which has a new version of ActionScript and new code in the html files it creates when embedding Flash content.

Anyway, try the new links.

Jay

Hi Jay,

Still no go for me with the second link. I get a video screen and the controls flash in a loop, but are not active. It did prompt me to load ActiveX and install Adobe Flash.
