Can anyone comment on the sailing performance (in various conditions) of the various keel configurations? Specifically, is there slide slippage going to windward in the shoal (Scheel) keel model of the 37?

I have the keel centerboard on my '81 and have been sailing it for 9 years. I get more side-slip that I did with my previous Islander 28 with a fin keel when pointing high. But in moderate winds I often don't even put the board down and still get good performance. My wife and I were sailing back from a trip and ran into 20-22k wind on the nose. We rolled in the genny but with only a couple of miles to the pierhead, decided to just leave the mainsail full and board up to see how the boat would do tacking the rest of the way. I was pleased with the results but would have put it down had we not been close to the channel.
