Thank you for accepting me on your Tartan 37 site .
I have a 1984 Tartan 37S&S centerboarder full teak interior.
SV Tropic Star previously SV Drambuoy from Annapolis MDH
Tartan37CB
MyTartan 37 for me was like winning the cruising sailors lottery it was not advertised and i acquired when going to buy a 13lb danforth anchor for a smaller sailboat i owned. Upon paying for it I was asked "would you be interested in buying a sailboat?" What kind is it? "A Tartan 37" how much? "Cheap " how cheap is cheap? "$5,000"
Where do we see it? "Here below on property our familys private dock" lets go see it! It was 8 years neglected after owner father of family died. It needed 130hrs of complete cleaning inside outside bottom underwater. But i saw it was a sound hull. I bought her on the spot.
I had been looking for a cruising sailboat for close to 30 years. My sailing ship came in. Thus i won the cruising sailors lottery. I sail as a USCG merchant mariner professionally so i can fund my future cruising after upgrades are finished. Working 2 months every after 4months of cruising until full retirement of fulltime cruising a few years down the road. My sailing dinghy is a
Pacific Seacraft Flicka 20 and a fatty knees rowing sailing lapstrake fiberglass dinghy.
A Achilles 9ft rib for faster adventures.
I live life for 2 reasons Adventure and what others share.
My Land yacht adventurer is a 1986 Nissan Sunrader 18ft fully molded fiberglass camper with SD22 2.2L Nissan diesel 4cylinder engine.
Thank you for allowing me on your Tartan 37 owners site

Looks like the deal of the century to me. Congratulations on being in the right place at the right time. You have a lot of help on this sites for any issues you might encounter. I have owned my T37 for 28 years and maybe 30K miles and still love sailing it.

Thank you Members i appreciate your welcomes and words of appreciation.
No fear no spirits no ghosts all is good and she has been a ongoing project of upgrades and restoration. A low hours 2009 Beta Kubota 38hp 4cylinder engine was acquired and is soon to be installed. Looking to install dc refrigeration, a new harken mkIV #2 roller furler and head sails. Has anyone ever converted their Tartan 37 sloop into a cutter rig? I was interested in installing a removeable inner forestay to have a cutter sail rig. I have stainless frames for twin biminis as came with purchase and i have acquired a stainless dodger frame, so i will be making connecting biminis and a dodger . At my marina I acquired a sailrite sewing machine capable of single and zig zag stitching for $60. So lots of sewing projects for the future.
A hydrovane self steering windvane system will also be added as extensive offshore cruising is my plan to start after upgrades are finished. As a merchant mariner my work will continuously fund new upgrades and future cruising plans.

Tartan37CB, what marina are you at? I'm at Herrington North. Same deal here - refitting after years of neglect. Happy to meet up and share notes. I've probably done some of the projects you have planned.

Plenty of T37 cutter rigs. Great cruising option.

Congratulations, sounds like you were ‘right place right time’ with the engine as well! Think about a hard top dodger with removable fabric front and sides. It can blend in nicely. I have just finished a new Bimini ( in my basement) with my Sailrite, use Profilen synthetic thread,it’s a bit trickier on adjustments and expensive but lasts longer than the sunbrella.
One thing I did was to glass in a floor in the anchor locker,it has a drain to a thru hull just above the waterline. Now no mud/water/ mess goes down the bilge.
Good luck, have fun, Bruce on old #6.

Tall Timbers Marina Tall Timbers Maryland is where my T37 CB hull #423 is located.
All information and help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for all of the information you are all sharing on this site.
Any members out there that have upgraded their beckson 4x14 portlights to new found metals 4x14 stainless portlights? And installing tips would be greatly appreciated!
One of my future projections on the list!
What is the cabintop side wall thickness where the portlights are installed?
