This is Jerry from T37 #226. The boat was originally located in Chicago and named "Bananas". We bought the boat in 2000, renamed it "Jammin" and moved it to Punta Gorda, FL. There are a lot of T37s in west FL as it is ideal with the shallow draft.

We have done a lot of upgrades. Some of these include:
New Lewmar hatches and primary winches. New portlights. Added a Maxwell windlass.
Added a new bowfitting for anchors. New Harken traveler and roller furling.
Freedom 2000 charger/inverter and a Heart Interface.
New Raycor fuel filter and an electric fuel pump. New electric head. Macerator for holding tank and replaced all head plumbing. Replaced most thru-hulls and added seacocks to replace the nasty ball valves. Replaced autopilot and instruments. And so on.

We still have had time to race the boat twice a month on the average and to cruise the west coast of FL and the Bahamas. This is the ideal dual purpose boat.

I am sure glad to see the forum. Can't wait to see it become fully utilized.

Nice intro!
Even nicer change of Homeport. (I'm Tartan Green with jealousy Tartan )

Sounds like quite the overhaul. Thanks for jumping in the forum.
Are you in the Association?
Reading your other post "Aircraft Control Surfaces"... do we have another pilot? (The skipper of #299 will be signing up once he's back from the little latitudes.)

High Flight,

No, I am not a pilot. I've just spent most of my adult life on aircraft design. I am a structural engineer but was also involved in a lot of systems integration and subsystems design. Worked on a lot of composite airplane structure so boats are right up my alley.

I have tried to document some of my lessons learned with my boat projects and am willing to share. A couple articles did appear in the newsletters several years ago.

I am also trying to round up the T37 owners in west Florida. There are a lot of them and they keep moving. We have Ian Smith with hull #1 living here. It has been extensively remodeled, but still looks like a Tartan.

I am glad this forum got started and hope it catches on.

Jerry
