Hi, I'm 1000's of miles from the boat, can anyone look or measure the width of the boat where davits would be and tell me how bad or good a 9'6" dinghy length would work on our boats? I need a new dinghy and use a nesting one now on the front of the boat but would like to go to an inflatable unit. I can get a good deal on the 9'6" model from AB,

thank you

Richard

I had a 10' Avon and now have a 9'4" Achilles RIB... fits beautifully on the stern and also the foredeck if you go offshore. The 10' made the foredeck awkward to move around.

One warning though, my 9' RIB with a 9.8 4 stroke doesnt plane nearly as well as the 10', I have yet to add a foil to the engine but hopefully that will help. I tried a high thrust prop, that didn't help at all. Typically we have two adults avergae size and two girls, 8&10 and with the four of us, I cannot plane the dingy... its just to short. So if its mostly two of you a 9'ish will be great... otherwise consider a 10'+

FWIW anyway

I have a 10ft inflatable I stow on my davits. It's fine but I wouldn't use anything longer.

Just wondering how you made out with the dingy fit? I just bought a 10.5 ft AB RIB. It's going to fit how ever it fits! Just wondering.

Thanks. Fred

Bought an AB inflatable 9 VL (which is actually 9'6") and it fits fine but I wouldn't go any bigger as it would stick out too wide

I used to have a 10 foot Avon inflatable but a few years ago purchased a Achilles 9-foot RIB...

I wish I had bought the 10 because it will playing better than the 9-foot but the 9-foot does fit forward of the Mast better than the 10 foot I guess you compromise one way or the other with 2 adults and 2 kids getting the 9-foot Achilles to plane with a 10 horsepower motor is troublesome even with a high thrust prop
