Dickinson recommends a 5 - 6 foot straight run of stovepipe for best performance. Add to that the cap fixture height. The Newport furnace is just under 20" tall. That puts 1 - 2 feet of stack above the coach top just forward of the mainsheet traveller. You might get some interference there when on a starboard tack.
Not wanting to have a stack poking up out of my coach top is the main reason I ruled out a pot-burner for Betty Lou, and went with a forced air furnace.
