I just got rid of my soft panels for two reasons. First: one of them was an old style thicker and heavier panel and the other was a lighter and curly panel. Second: I bought a new bimini and when we removed the solar panels you could see the wear they had put on the bimini. No wonder the waterproofing had failed. I got two 95W panels to mount rigidly above my bimini and a Morningstar Sunsaver Duo controller with remote display. I got all of this from
www.wholesalesolar.com . The Morningstar takes a single feed from the panels and keeps both batteries charged. The hardest thing to find was the mounting clips for the rails over the bimini. I finally found them at
www.emarineinc.com . Product was
http://www.emarineinc.com/products/1%22 ... ir%29.html . We bought 4 pair for two panels. The 190 watts of power keeps us mostly supplied. But we haven't yet sailed a long time without cranking the engine at least twice a day while anchoring or just getting underway. Too many electric toys. VHF, stereo, autopilot, GPS, laptop, refrigerator, nav lights and radar can create a sizable drain on the system. The cabin lights are LED but I haven't switched out the nav lights yet. Hope this helps.
