What have you done with the space below and outboard of the nav station? I have always looked at this as a large waste of space that is largely inaccessable, or at least awkward to access. Any creative usage out there?

I keep a drop light and extension cord in there.

General storage at the moment. Future location of a boat PC.

Lower section: jack lines, tethers and harnesses, MOB hoist tackle, spot light.
Upper section: (access also from port settee) spare running lines, tool bag.

Don't know how he got in there........must have disassembled some cabinetry. I just installed a Raymarine XP-5 autopilot and mounted the computer just underneath the table.

My inverter is in there and spare engine parts that are used more frequently (oil filters, water pump impellers)

Hello !
Go see viewtopic.php?f=5&t=50 for pics of my "access hatch" solution to that space.
It currently hold the battery charter; an inverter and some small stuff.
Have a great sailing year 2012 !

I used mine for diesel fumes the first 2 years.

Now it is clean (washed) and after adding a fan in the "foot-end" of the diesel tank the compartment has vented the fumes the right way for those two years.

When I get to redoing the cushions (or fastening them better) I expect to make an access panel from the seating area - and adding a lattice shelf - so it can use it for extra/guest life jackets - there's a lot of weight in that side of the boat as it is.

One of our cats, Big Boy, has that space reserved. When I can't find him easily then that cubby is the first place I look. The other two cats like to be above the waterline.

The cabinet above the chart table I keep a few cleaners and lubricants, two large wrenches for the stuffing box, boat horn, extension cords, and Autohelm controller (I have the old belt type). Below I only keep my old empty oil container (gallon) so that I have it in the fall to put the old oil back into.

Thanks for this topic as it has given me some ideas for better use of the lower compartment.

Mark
