After a short season, I've decided I don't like the stowaway boom from Hood so am looking to replace the boom with a traditional one and puchasing a new main.

Any thoughts on obtaining a boom?

I am going to guess you have a 3700? If you have the older design which most of us on this forum havem the T37C or classic, you couold contact Tartan, they make spars for their boats, or at least I think they still do. You might also try Kato Marine in Annapolis, if I recall, the owner designed the spars on our T37C, sorry I cannot remeber his name.

The prior owner went with the hood stowaway boom sometime around 1986. The sail is original and rather than replacing it with the flat, hard sail to match I'm going with a more traditional setup.

Hood's Stow-a-way Mast is awesome. Doesn't help you though. I'd think you'd be able to rig something generic for a boom. Get in the ball park for size and match the sail. Google around and you may even find a used one that fits the task.

I just replaced my spreaders and found the correct extrusion at Rig-Rite. The have all sorts of spar extrusions also.

http://www.rigrite.com/A-Main/spar_M.html

They were ok to deal with but you need to identify what it is you want from their web page. They can't answer the question "What extrusion did Tartan use on the 1980 T-37C?".
