Does anyone have experience with davits on the T-37. We have an 8' Trinka hard dink(about 85 lbs.) that we carry on deck inverted forward of the mast. Folding pad eyes for tie downs and a teak "receiver" for the transom has made a serviceable arrangement for dinghy storage.
But, a few years ago we added a windlass and all chain rode which has the boat trimmed bow down a little. And, since we do not like to tow a dinghy much, getting the dink on and off deck with the spinnaker halyard makes for a frequent "fire drill".
I understand the seaworthiness disadvantage of davits and the problems with weight in both ends; but, am attracted to the convenience davits would offer. And, we have had Spray out of the Chesapeake Bay once in the last 15 years so offshore work will be infrequent.
Any experiences anyone can share? Brands? Installation? Problems/solutions? Thoughts?
Thanks.
Ted
