Hello all !
I am in the process of adding a decent ground for my ham (ssb + pactor) station onboard (copper straps and ground plate) and was wondering if anyone had installed a Dynaplate under the hull and where exactly he did it so to not drill into the coring.
I'll be glad to post picture of my installation when in progress later this spring.

Thanks !

Jean-Denis in Quebec, Canada

JD,
I haven't installed a grounding plate yet, but I just installed the Frigoboat Keelcooler which is very similar. The area behind the engine is wide open-easy access and you won't go through the coring if you stay fairly low. If you put it here, be careful to stay fairly far aft if you can because when you haul the boat, the lifting straps will overlap the grounding plate if its too far forward, so you'll need to scope it out before you drill!!!

Thanks !
I'll keep this in mind when choosing the location !

I'll try to put it around the area between engine and the water heater. I need a relatively flat surface for that big plate (6 " by 18 ") thow.

Do you know if there is coring in the hull in the closet under the galley sink ? Would make a nicely accessible place for the copper strap.

Again thanks and have a great summer !

Jean-Denis

Jd,
Yes there is 100% coring under the galley sink (no area that is accessible that is un-cored).
You also would want to stay low for when you're heeled over, it'll stay under water.

Isn't there an OEM ground plate on T37s. My T37 has a electrical bonding system for the mast and all thru-hulls with the wires attached to a ground plate. Is this not the case for all T37s? Jay.

Jay,
Yes, all the through-hulls are bonded together along with the rigging and then to the negative/ground bar mounted on the engine support pan. Whether or not it uses the through-hulls/engine as the actual grounding plate, I don't know. I don't know if there is a grounding plate up in the centerboard slot or not, but there's not one anywhere else on the hull.
Anyone know definitively?
Tom
