We actually did this in 2012 but I can't remember if I posted it then. But we were flushing out the potable water system today after it has been stagnant since Hurricane Sally and even a bit before. So I took pictures today about this storage that you may not have known about.

We have removed the side panels on the settee due to rot when the tank was leaking for the previous owner(s). The tank did not go all the way forward. The space between the tank and the main bulkhead was filled with foam most of which we removed. The hot and cold water lines to the head were foamed in from the factory.

We then took a piece of plywood (3/8" I think) and trimmed off the underside to create a new lid for the opening.

And there you have it. A space to store small items. This one is used by the Admiral for cleaning and sprucing up the boat. Knowing that some of us do NOT live in the USA, I used my bilingual tape measure. Cheers

Thanks, Wayne for the helpful instructions. FWIW, our 1979 boat didn't have any foam in there. We're also glad that now we can replace the water hoses to the head; those are the only freshwater hoses we haven't replaced with new ones.
