We also installed the NFM ports and love them. Jim's advice about the black goop and testing is on the mark and very critical, but when properly installed the ports are great.
Larger ports are probably not very practical, for space considerations. However, if you want to lighten up the interior, you can go to a white finish on the cabin trunk interior, above the teak trim and grab rails and around the ports up to the upper teak strip. We did this and really like it. It looks very much like the interior effect in newer Tartan models, and the teak spacers at the NFM ports stand out and look great. You can actually use a good white epoxy paint as we did, tipped out as you would an outer surface. Some have also done this with new formica panels. (Warning! Traditionalists may shun you for doing this!)
