We don't like to run out of fresh water. And the starboard tank has cracks in its top and leaky inspection ports, so we can't fill it all the way up. After reading Zach's posts about flexible water tanks, we decided to try one.
So we put a Vetus 55 liter bladder under the galley sink. A plywood panel keeps it outboard enough to allow room for the trashcan in the cabinet. We lined the hull and the plywood with 1/2" neoprene to reduce chafe and slipping.
For now, the fill hose runs through the bulkhead into the starboard cockpit locker. If we decide to keep this tank it should be easy to install a deck fill outboard of the locker.
Has anybody else tried something like this? Is it a bad idea?
