Is the port side wall that seperates the holding tank in the V berth from the "Pump out Locker" a structural bulk head?
I'd like to cut out about 4" from the top and about 12" not touching the tabs to port of my old holding tank to replace with a new custom holding tank.
Any comments?
Thanks in advance.
Nick.

having a bit of trouble understanding what you are showing us. Most of that tabbed stuff on the furniture is meant to stiffen, but is probably not critical to the structure of the boat as long as you leave most of it and do not tamper with the tabbing.

Velera,

To clarify, I'd like to cut the bulk head 4" in height x12 3/4" wide to install a new a taller holding tank.

The bulk head in question is to port in the V Berth where my 19 gallon holding sticks thru. The bulk head has no chain plates attached.
I'm thinking that since it already has a large section cut out for the holding tank that this bulk head is a partition and may not be a structural bulk head. But I'm not 100% sure.
Photo 1932 uploaded upside down, sorry...

Regards,
Nick.

I removed the forward wood cleat and pushed the holding tank forward and out of the hanging locker. I made up new blocks to secure.

Nick,

That bulkhead is actually a partition. The aft bulkhead in the pump out locker IS structural from top to bottom.

Thanks everybody for your feedback.
I now have a couple of options, push back the tank a bit and if need be trim out the wall/ partition that is nonstructural.

I'm hoping to get a 28 gallon tank custom made by Poly Fab out of Willington MA. They plastic weld their tanks. No mold required like Ronco or Kracor.
I'll share my findings, when I get my quote.
Thanks again.
Nick.

Now, when I had plastic welded tanks made up years ago, I wanted baffles (diesel tank). The baffles were held in place by both welds and stainless steel screws from the outside with a spot weld over the head. It worked O.K., but the welds where the neck for the deck fill pipe came in became brittle over the course of 4 or 5 years. But the more I think about it, do you really want baffles in a turd tank? Why do I obsess about this stuff?

I remember someone put a off the shelf rotomold 35 gals tank up in that space. It was located athwartship in front of the honeymoon filler. If I was doing again, I would look into that option.
