For longest time I was having water getting into stern of Hooligan. Kept looking for leaks with no success until I was washing the cockpit and noticed that a previously dry stern was now wet. After looking at the molded seat and the cover, I determined that if a large volume of water was sprayed on the closed cockpit, it ran over the molded-in sides and ended up inside the boat. Here is a simple and cheap solution.....
Got 1" wide weather strip from Home Depot and attached to under side of the hinged cockpit cover. First time not too successful as I left the hinge nuts exposed and mold indent for hinge nuts open. The last time I made cut-outs for the hinge nuts and filled the mold indents with weather strip. I had removed the hatch cover to smooth the surface where the weather strip was to be installed and used E-6000 in addition to the glue on the weather strip. Since the hinge nut cut-outs are installed over the nuts, I installed that piece after hinges were re-attached.
