Installed new Origo stove, removed old CNG System. Was cooking on a Butane cook top for a while, but NG underway. A friend who sails a Morgan 323 recommended it, he has one and is very happy with it. I also read a lot of positive posts. Lit it off yesterday for the first time, seemed like a pretty hot flame. I had an older style Origo Alcohol/Electric on a 2002 boat, it was terrible, about 20 minutes to boil a tea kettle. This seems much better !

Good one, a watched pot never boils. Lasagna sounds pretty ambitious, even in a regular oven it takes awhile. I give your Gally Goddess credit !

We use a Origo 2000 sitting on top of the CNG over. We can still get CNG easily. So we start the winter cruise with two CNG tanks and four gallons of alcohol. The Origo is great, use the CNG to bake.

We are paying $80.00 for a tank of CNG, only place on Long Island NY is Brewers in Greenport. Friend says he picks it up on ski trips while driving through Conneticut to save $$!. Anyway I submitted 2014 survey with CNG stove flagged, Boat US ins, they would not insure. Have been actually using butane cook top, works great, $30.00 fuel lasts about teo seasons. Wanted to do more offshore work, wanted gimbled stove, without worrying about propane. Old CNG stove rattled like crazy and oven door hinge was broken.Friend has the Origo 3000 and is happy with it.

Out for a month, cooked many meals on board, Coffee,Tea each morning. Bought 4 gallons of Alcohol for the season, used only 2 gallons. We were aboard at least 50 days over the summer. Have not tried the oven yet....

We safely carry a whole season (7mos) of cooking fuel/alcohol with us, in the space a little larger than a case of beer. It's important to have a good way to seal when not in use. We use a round silicone gasket, the heat doesn't effect them, so you can cover the burner while hot.

Just sailed back down to the Chesapeake from Maine and discovered that CNG appears to have disappeared down here. The usual places for exchange in Annapolis, Rock Hall and Galesville no longer have it. So it may be time to bite the bullet. Many folks seem quite happy with the Origo which would clearly be the simplest. One question -- how much odor is there? I often use a kind of toaster device over the flame. And I'd prefer my bagel without alcohol. Or at least without the kind you burn.
