Hi all-

The oven burner in my HillerRange pressurized alcohol oven started leaking, and while I think I can repair it at some point, I have a trip planned starting this weekend and 100 other things to deal with beforehand. I am wondering if I can heat the oven using an Origo unpressurized alcohol canister in the bottom of the oven as a temporary fix.

My only concern is the canister will get too hot as the oven heats up, leading to uncontrollable flames/heat, or that the canister won't have enough air and will be extinguished.

Has anyone tried anything along these lines?

Thanks,
James

Yes this is my fear exactly. I think for the idea to work, the canister has to be below the oven, otherwise it will get too hot and burn uncontrollably. Guess I'll just have to make do without the oven.
