Has anyone ever had custom made cockpit grates/ duckboards for their T37?
Anyone have a drawing?
I spoke with Art at Tartan and they only have a sketch of the grate aft of the wheel, no drawings on the other grates. Estimate cost is $1,300.00 just for the helm seat from Tartan..
All feedback is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

The previous owner passed to me the helm seat and one of the side grates although I can't remember which one. I used to think I would have the missing one made one day, but the boat also came with cushions that the previous owner was using instead of the grates, and that is what I use too. I've just got the grates I have sitting in storage. Seems like they would be in the way and just another piece of wood to maintain on the boat, I guess. What is the real benefit?

I love the look of teak. Compliments well the classic S&S lines, design.

No doubt about that. I'd be willing to part with the two pieces I have for the right price if interested. Not sure how easy they would be to ship. They are in Cortez, FL (Bradenton).

We love our cockpit grates, and had them restored to their former glory last year. Since then we've stored them below when not out sailing, and the varnish work stays nice much longer. Always get compliments on the cockpit grates.

I've got the three cockpit seat grates in storage: I don't want the weight or the maintenance. I don't want to sell them, as It could be a factor in a future sale of the boat. I've been using black locust as a substitute for teak in recent years; you could save a bundle by using this approach. The price Tartan gave you for the one grate at the helm seat seems exhorbitant: it's a straightforward carpentry project, with what, a dozen board feet?

Jay,
The grates are beautiful. No doubt a T37 purest. Nice job!

If anyone out there by chance had to make their cockpit grates and has a drawing, would it be possible to place it on the technical resources board?
Regards.
