The Admiral and I bought a 50 foot reel of surface mount leds from Super Bright Led. We used part of the reel to replace the light in the head by placeing a strip over the top of the medicine cabinet. The Admiral says it is nice to be able to see BOTH sides of her face in the mirror.

We took out the V-berth spot lights and added the strip lighting under the shelves.

But the one we really like is the 8 inch strip under the lip of the nav station and over the drawers. You know, that spot that needs a flashlight to see what's in the drawers.

But don't look into the light.

So anyway, now the Admiral doesn't have to grab a flashlight to find a tool in the tool drawer. We added a switch on the nav station panel to turn the light on and off. It's a black push button with a red light up ring. It can be wired several ways but we have it wired so that the ring is lit up when the light is off.

We like the LED strip-light suggestion and installed both white and red in the V-Berth on dimmer switches.
