This black knob is on the panel next to my housepower batteries [4 ] control switch.. seperate from the starter batteries [2] panel underneath. What is it for..how is it used ? I have a '78 T-37C. Hull 103 .Any knowledge shared is appreciated.

Not sure, definitely not factory. Looks like it could be a locking mechanism of some sort with a removable key; maybe locks out the power. What does it look like from behind? If it is a lockout, do you have a key somewhere that looks like a lever of some sort?
Maybe something like this:

Battery Switch? I have something similar next to the Both, 1, 2 off. It bring the house bank and start bank in line by passing the auto switch...I think Toast

It's battery switch made by Hella, look for the red key. It's either on or off, you need to trace out the wiring down and make a schematic wiring sketch to see how it's wired. Also I included a link for ordering the key. You see these switches on boats from Europe all the time.
