Can anyone tell me the thickness of the transom on a 1982 Tartan 37? Need to install hardware for the wind generator...want to make sure my screws are the correct length before starting the work.

Thanks in advance!!

I've never made a hole in my transom so I don't know but I can't imagine it's over 1/4 to 3/8" max. This is not an area where having too much length on the screws are going make much difference. If I were doing this I'd take the thickness of the backing plate I was using and add about 3/8" to 1/2" then buy the appropriate sized screws for that hole depth based on the thickness of the nut/washer combination I was planning to use.

It's only about 5/16 of an inch thick, except where the backstay has a backing plate and around the perimeter of the transom where it ties into the hull.
