quick question...is the rudder stop up or down, I'm guessing down?

Definitely down. While rudder travel is limited as has been noted, I have been surprised at how quickly the boat comes around on my deep keel version. I had to actually shortened the travel (by approximately an inch by adding small blocks) to install a short throw Raymarine autopilot so it would not overextend the linear drive mechanism beyond its limits. If you have an under deck autopilot you might use caution here.
