For those that have replaced their genoa winch, what size have they gone with? 46, 48 or 52? Are you happy with your size now?

Thanks
Richard

The previous owner installed the Lewmar 48 self-tailers for the genoa sheets and they are a good match. We often sail with a 150 genny for the Chesapeake summers and never had to strain to winch in the sheets.

That's good to know, I was thinking of either 48's or 52's

Richard,
What's the price differential? Bigger is always better in a winch, so it may be up to your wallet! check the footprint requirement and see if the 52 will fit. The 48 that I have is a big winch that you often see on much larger boats.

You're right, I'll have to do some measurements to see if the 52 will fit, it may not! Quite a price difference between the 48 and the 52 though.....

I would think the limitation would be the underside of coaming and whether you can properly back it. But frankly... I've never really looked under there to see what's going on. Goes to show... you learn what breaks.
