I have a couple of questions. About 24'' forward of the 'sump' in the bilge, I have a 1/2'' bronze pipe sticking up about 2'' with a cap on it, it appears to go straight into the c/b trunk, but of course, I cant look down it as its directly under a floor timber, any idea what its for? will try to post photo.
Other question, my chainplates are all bonded to a stud, about a foot behind the mast. I understood that the ballast is lead, encapsulated in the fibreglass, so, what is the stud connected to to achieve a ground ?? Thanks Bruce.

Bruce,
I think what you have is a retro fit. I have seen this on other centerboard boats where an owner installs a through-hull of some configuration so they can open it up and stick a rod through it to "wack" on the centerboard to free it up. Hopefully the opening is above the waterline, if it isn't then maybe it was designed to attach a longer pipe to it for an extension. I don't think that what you have is standard...or at least it wasn't on the earlier T-37's. A buddy of mine has one on his Bristol 31.1 and I believe the previous owner installed it.
The stud sticking out of the keel area is for bonding.
Tom

On my boat the bilge is the top of the lead keel. It's been covered with a thin coat of gelcoat or resin. If you drill through 1/8" of resin you hit lead.
