Hello all !
On Nemea our main anchor is a Rocna 20kg (with 150' of 5/8 G4 chain); our secondary anchor is a Delta 15kg and our emergency anchor is a Fortress aluminum anchor (stored in aft loacker with a spool of 150ft of nylon strap).
We just came back from a year of cruising on US east coast down to Bahamas and back up in Quebec and the only day on that year 2010 we dragged anchor we were anchored at Oxford, Chesapeake, experienced 85 knots winds for a few minutes in a very very bad thunderstorm last summer. Bottom was soft silt there.
In most bottoms (sand, grass or mud) our rockna held like glue and no wonder why they call it the "windlass destroyer". Some times it was so well set that we had to push forward full throttle to release it. Mine was made by Suncor in B.C. under licence from Rocna NZ.
We are completely satisfied with it and it made us sleep well under anchor in many blows. Actually the times we did'nt slept well were other boats around us dragged ther anchors...
Enclosed is a pict. of my custom made stainless steel bowsprit that support our front anchors.

After a bad night in which we dragged with our CQR (in an area know for poor holding, to be fair) we bought a Rocna 20. Our experience with the Rocna over the last two months on the boat has been great. It sets and resets quickly, removes with the same amount of force as the CQR and has withstood several 20kts /25+gust blows without moving. I'm sleeping better already!
