1982, hull 402, does Tartan suggest starting tensions? The lowers are 1/4", and are around 1000 to 1200 on the gage. I cannot measure the uppers, they aRE 5/16".

The door to the V will not close, and this may be the problem.

I have 1982 hull 373 and I believe those numbers are in the original book which I have on board. I will look tomorrow and get back to you.

I looked at the book. The original instruction book does not suggest a starting point for tension in pounds, but does discuss how to set the rig. The mast rake should be about 3" aft and centered. I set the starboard and port rigging snug with the mast straight and in column. The book says, and I would confirm, that there is no way to properly tune a rig at dockside. I then sail in a brisk breeze, at least 10-12 knots, and see if I can keep the mast straight and in column and adjust it until it is. Tack and do the same. It is OK if the leeward shrouds are bit loose. Do not adjust the rig when it is under load as it may score the turnbuckles--tack each time to adjust and then tack back. Keep the turnbuckles and screws clean and lubricated. Once you are there, you might want to put some tape at the top of the turnbuckle to give you a starting point next season.

Check the square alum tube the door hinge is attached to.It may have slid down enough to prevent closing.I had to lift mine from the bilge and block it up.It moved about a quarter to a half inch. Hull #375 1982.
