At the top of my port companionway frame was tacked this odd little thing made of stiff wires. It looks old enough to be original. The hatch hits the top wire when nearly closed but otherwise it seems to do nothing. Does anyone know what it is?

Curious... I don't quite understand where you extracted it from. Under the hood that the hatch slides into? Was it visible or inside something? If it's a visible item, we don't have one.
