TLDR at bottom.

I have been dissatisfied with the quick and dirty installation of our watermaker. I noticed how small the supply to the raw water pump on the engine was and assumed that I could tie in there with the watermaker supply. I was soon disabused of that notion when we tried to run the watermaker while the engine was running. Raw water pump sucked all the water out of the lines and starved the watermaker causing it to go into fault.

Well, ok. About this time, my elderly and not quite right father in law moved in with us and our cruise to The Bahamas was put on indefinite hold. In the meantime, we don't need the waterwaker so we only ran it at the dock using the wash procedure. The wash procedure uses just freshwater to flush the RO membrane out, keeping it clean and ready for saltwater use. If we went out, it was usually only for the weekend and we didn't need to use the watermaker.

So I planned to move the watermaker supply forward to share the through hull with the air conditioning. Install the "T" and a new valve for the watermaker because it is a 15 foot run to the watermaker. The only problem I see is removing the hose from the fitting to the air conditioner valve. The hose has been there for a while. So it's not going to move easily. I removed the hose clamps and slid them down the hose.

I got my 8 inch pipe wrench on the hose and gave it a little twist to set the wrench and the pipe nipple inside the hose snapped off!!! So now I need a new fitting from the valve to the hose.

TLDR:
Almost sunk the boat because the fitting was rotten to the core.

Brass is a no no, seen this story before. Replace with bronze. Glad it wasn't worst.
