Can anyone tell me how to remove the headliner above the starboard crew berth ? I need access to a stanchion support and a whisker pole mount.

It seems that two pieces of molding, one along the top and along the galley bulkhead would allow it to drop out but I don't want to start removing if it won't do it.

Haven't removed that yet, but I'll need to. So when you pop it off, take a few pics if you can. I also need to replace the side panel there.
P.S. Pilot Berth. That's what we call it anyway. Not sure if Tartan uses that term.

Here's a link to a fin keel owner's blog. He has a detailed post on replacing the headliner over the pilot berth:

Hi Mike,

This is a project I tackled a while ago. In fact the head liner is still not back in (so I can get more pictures if you need them). If you look at the attached pictures you have several parts that must be removed in sequence before the head liner will be free. It is also imbedded in a rabbited channel in a few places if I remember. The sequence will become evident as you work the puzzle. These boats were never made to be disassembled?

I first had to remove some of the bungs and the screws holding the forward starboard hand rail in order to loosen the large trim piece against the cabin trunk. I did not want to take this off.

Then there is the plywood trim, forward in the pilot berth that will have to be removed.

Then there are some trim pieces holding the liner in.

You will have to cut the wires and remove the overhead round light. Someone had driven the screws holding the backing board through the deck and caused the leak you see as the dark area and why I had to go in there in the first place.

There may also be some supports on the bulk head that you need to remove.

It is not as bad as it looks. Just go slow so you don?t do more damage or break anything. Document your progress, so you can put the puzzle back together again.

The whisker / spin pole hardware might be accessed through the small upper, starboard cabinet or wet locker.

If your Tartan does not have backing plates on the lifeline hardware, now would be a good? time?.. to ???? Oh well, that?s how it goes?

Mark

Thanks for the pics. I suspected I had to remove the handrail and like you, didn't want to.

The pilot berth headliner is probably the easiest. I want to rebed all my deck gear, and dread the stuff over the galley cupboard and port side salon cabinets.

Hi alpinista,

Look here http://www.tartan37.com/t37forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=145&hilit= and here

http://www.tartan37.com/t37forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=81&hilit= for more documentation.

I have also added some more pictures.

PS: It is very tight in the anchor locker and even more so in the aft locker under the helm seat ;-)
