I used 4 lb foam, but I guess I could have gone with a more dense foam for more rigidity, but I'm not going to loose any sleep over it! I am now in the process of re-building a Tartan 30 rudder for my wife's cousin. This rudder is basically of similar construction as the T-37, but the pintle/shoe is of a different breed than ours. On the T-30, I had to buy all new stainless and have the tabbing straps welded. I am in the process of glassing the ting back together and will fill it with my left over foam from my rudder. I wonder, are most rudders, independent of make/model, that are approaching 30-35 years in need of repair?
