My faucet in the galley sink is on its last legs. I'm not sure if it is original but its the kind with hot and cold knobs (4" apart on center) and two pivoting arms that form the spout (one about 8" long and the other about 5") giving me about 3" to 13" of reach in all directions.

Does anyone know of a good source for a drop in replacement unit? Thanks.

You can buy one directly from Tartan -

https://www.tartanparts.com/

Look under parts by model.

Thanks Jim but mine isn't shown there, mine is more traditional looking with two knobs set apart and a flatter spout with an articulated middle. I did find some other interesting parts on the site though.

Maybe I'll meet you on the water somewhere next year since we're in Mattapoisett and come your way through Woods Hole a lot.

Scott-

I still have the old faucet in my boat. I like the older traditional look. About 4 years ago I rebuilt mine. I took the stem inserts (hot and cold) to a plumbing supply house and they were able to sell me 2 new ones, right off the shelf. I bought mine at George O'Briens Plumbing supply in Mashpee. If that's what you need, and can't find them closer to your home, let me know back channel, and I'd be glad to help you out.

Jim

I replaced mine this summer for only a small amount, it is a 4" mounting hole type. It was at the local hardware store and I just attached the old spouts on it. The trick was taking the old one out - not fun. Ended up using a cutoff blade on a dremel tool to do the job. Found out after there is a type of long socket that fits on the nut underneath to turn it to get these off, our marina has one of these tools so I think they must be common.

The tool to undo the nut is a standard plumbing tool and can be bought at most hardware and home repair stores (even some dollar stores). It is called a basin wrench.

I don't think I could have got at it with that tool, the one with the deep sockets could have worked though.

When I removed my faucet, the cast-die metal was corroded so badly that I had to use my Sawzall to cut it away. I installed a nice Delta brand faucet found at Home Depot which has a higher clearance than the old one and has a more modern look to it.

Scott-

Last weekend I was on my boat, looking for something to do, so I decided to try to tighten the faucet to the galley sink. As I'm sure you're aware, there is very little room under the sink, so I removed the sink. With the sink removed, changing out the faucet, or re-tightening is simple. To remove the sink, you simple need to loosen the 2 drain connections, and then loosen the 4 clips that hold it in place (1 fwd, 1 aft, 1 port, 1 stbd), rotate the clips 90 degrees.

Jim,

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try. It will make finding a replacement faucet set that much easier - I'll just bring the sink to them...
