Does anyone have advice about the most effective way to discourage mussels/apply antifouling, in the cavity ahead of the rudder where the flexible fibreglass wings are? By the end of last season it was full of tiny mussels. They are a real pain to clean out and I am sure they don't help with steering.
We sail in New England waters. Do people some how apply the same bottom paint or spray some of Petit's zinc antifouling?

Put up a Starbucks and raise the rent. Snicker

Kidding... We're freshwater sailors so all I can do is wish you luck.

JDC, That area does not interfere with the sailing performance.....Are the mussels that invasive where they scrape against the rudder? You can always harvest them occasionally, cook 'em up with garlic butter and a little chardonnay.....mmmmm good!

I would not worry about them. I have had my T37 for 15 years in California and in the water most of the time.
