I have two double cheek blocks on the port combing. Mounted on top of the combing, with sheaves horizontal. The first is just aft of the winch and the second is about two feet aft of that one. I have owned my boat for almost a year and I still haven't found a use for these two double cheek blocks. Does anyone have some ideas? Thanks. Mawky, ser 295.

Size? Does it look big enough for a sheet (Spin, Genoa?) or maybe a custom Bimini from days gone by? Either way, sounds like their vestigial at this point. Must have been a custom job by a previous owner.

definetly not big enough for a sheet. the sheaves are about about 2in diam. i recall seeing a similar setup pictured in the new tartan book. when i get back off this trip i will find the picture and post page no. better yet i will be going up to duluth and bringing the boat to bayfield next week. will get a few pictures. could these possibly be for the old wind vane a/p?

Carl, Are there any on the starboard side? If it's just on the port side, could it be an old furling line setup?

ok, you can all stop looking for what these double blocks are for. i just found out they are from the old wind vane type autopilot. i am told they connect the helm to autopilot via ropes.
