I was replacing the corroded instrument lights and sockets on the motor instruments. Well, I twisted off a rusty terminal stud bolt on the back of the tach. There is enough stud left to use but I dont think the tach has much life left in it with the heavy corrosion on the back. Has anyone replaced their motorola tach? Were you able to find an exact replacement with hour meter. Thanks, Carl

I replaced the tach on my W50 about 3 years ago. I got the replacement from a Westerbeke Dealer. The tach provided was their latest version, and fit right into the the control panel. The locations of the terminals were slightly different, so if I recall, I did have to replace (lenghthen) some of the wires. Other than that, the process was relatively straight forward.

The replacement for the hour meter is the Teleflex Hour Meter 56966P. Jay.

I replaced the tach hr meter with a new one from westerbeke. The new one is plastic which will prevent the bad corrosion that the orig. one had. The new tach needle would bounce up and down from zero to correct speed and it did it quite often. I tracked the problem to the fuel pressure switch, which is like an ignition key switch. the old fuel pressure switch apparently vibrated too much in 1900 hrs and the spade terminals, ie contacts inside, were just too sloppy and intermittent.
