any suggestions where to buy or build a transom swim ladder? what is min length or min amount of steps? also is there a source for the t37 logo on the aft end of the top side stripes? i can make one with some dark blue adhesive vinyl and an enlarged logo print but time is running short for winter projects. thanks carl sutherland

Some years ago, I had a boarding ladder made for the port side boarding gate by TopsInsQuality; they did an excellent job. Incidently, we now rarely use the stern ladder except to stand on for a cockpit shower. Have found a ladder at the beam is much easier for dinghy boarding particularly in wind/waves. Take a look at www.topsinquality.com.

If you find a source for the vinyl T37 logo, please make it a separate post; I have wondered about this as well.

Here's our ladder setup. I don't have measurements on hand, but I can tell you it's mounted on two teak blocks with metal brackets and pull pins for easy removal. It extends far enough for the lower step to rest on the rudder (if centerlined) so most of that last gap is submerged. Deep enough for me to get out easily. The second step up is a few inches out of the water.

Thanks so much for the pictures on the stern ladder. I picked up a four step foldable that will mount nicely just like yours. I like the idea of having pins to allow you to swing it up or remove it quickly. Thanks too for your logo work. Kinda feel like I am letting everyone down by not pitching in. I plan to get on the logo project and go to a vinyl printer next week. First I have to stop up to my boat and measure the size. It has been a busy winter here in minnesota and also at work. Just about done with the bimini, interior cushions, front hatch and deck rails. Good weather coming soon, I need to start putting the boat back together quick. Carl ser 295 Mawky

I added a stern ladder to my boat also, and I also went to Tops-n-Quality. I found the same thing though -- I don't use it too much. We have an old fiberglass folding ladder that mounts to the beam. Guests seem to prefer that for swimming as they don't have to climb over the stern rail, and I like it because it doesn't get the cockpit so wet. Mine is also the hinge type that can be removed in winter. I took it off a couple of years ago for the winter and forgot to put it back on. It was a month or two into the sailing season before I realized I hadn't re-mounted it. Mine looks identical to the pics shown, except I mounted mine so that the top of the ladder in the "up" position, is level with the stern rail.

I do think the stern is prettier without the ladder, but I added it because it was a requirement for solo racing. For that, I do think it is important to have whether solo racing or just solo sailing of any kind.
