We installed a Jabsco 50890-1000 waste pump for emptying the holding tank at sea. Jabsco claims the pump is self-priming to 3 meters.

It works great when newly installed and clean, but after we use it "for real" it has a tendency to finish with some debris in the joker valves which prevent it from self-priming on the next use. Anyone have a similar experience or found a convenient solution?

I have the Jabsco pump with an impeller. But brother-in-law who owns a marine service company, likes the one you have. We run a bunch of clean water into the holding tank while emptying. Think that keeps the joker valve clean. If you pull the joker, try coating with Teflon grease, I like Superlube in grey tube.
