Good Evening All,

Recently a large power boat dragged anchor and clipped my bow before crashing into other sailboats in my marina. My bow rail is totaled as well as my starboard chock, which broke off the bow cap. There was additional damage but I’ll spare you the minutiae.

I am “in contact” with Tartan but while I think they’re trying to help me, and perhaps I’m impatient after waiting two weeks, but they have yet to be able to provide bow rail specs for my 1983 T37.

Is there any chance any of you have had to replace your bow rail and have any specs? Or did you have it fabricated? Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

Jesse

No Specs but my bow was damaged in Hurricane Sally. Steve at Advanced Yachtworks in Pensacola had a new cap fabricated with stainless and replaced both chocks. I have misplaced the "after" photo but this is how we started out.

That did not look good either Wayne. Here’s how mine still looks.

I had mine bent and took it to a marine fabricator who makes the things. They screwed the feet down and took some measurements and fixed it. Yours look a bit more complicated as it was ripped from the bases. i would make a pattern of the base and I think the metal guys can figure out the design from measuring the legs of the destroyed one. i would look for guidance from the metal fabricators who are going to do the work. They often have to design this stuff from scratch and the good ones have no trouble with that. It probably won't be cheap.

Give these guys a call. Every time I've used them, I've have been very pleased with the quality, price, and service. One of the few places to get lifeline parts for T37.

Thanks for the responses and the recommendations. Fortunately a local metal fabricator was located. He was on my boat today taking a closer look and Tartan was finally able to provide a drawing with some measurements.

Here is the document that may be helpful to someone else in the future.
