On the website somewhere (I forgot where), there is a drawing showing the centerboard layout. That drawing indicates that the centerboard travel is 27-1/2". It will however travel farther and actually the board will go forward. When it goes forward, the pennant gets caught between the board and the trunk and you can not get the board up without a diver or a crane to clear the pennant and push the board aft again.
What I did for a while before I added the required pulley was use a marker on the pennant. When the board is completely up, measure from the fairlead aft 27-1/2" and use a magic marker to draw all the way around the pennant. When the mark gets to the fairlead, the board is completely down.
