Ahoy. I'm cleaning out old wiring from disused electronics. There's a bundle of old NMEA cables from a former chartplotter that go up through the ceiling of the cabinet to port of the chart table. Eventually they end up behind the engine and lead up into the binnacle. What's the best way to access these cables going past the quarterberth?

The attached pictures show how the cables leave the Nav station. Do they run behind the small angled piece of trim that connects the Q-berth ceiling to the outboard plywood? Does the whole plywood outboard wall need to come out?

Thanks again.
Mike

Mine has what looks like a PVC pipe housing these cables and exiting into the engine area. Running behind the trim. It was jammed with wires so was difficult to get rid of old ones. I climbed across the hot water heater and stood/crouched on the port side area under the cockpit. This is a very cramped spot. So, if you aren't "nimble" or are tall, you may not be able to get there. From there my wife tugged on wires to identify them, and we finally got rid of the unused mess. The good news was that after we got the first one to squeeze out, the rest were less crowded and came easier.

Wow. I had a radar set like that once.
Actually, no. It was the predecessor of the predecessor of that old Raytheon.

Most of my wire runs in this ‘trunking’ at the hull/deck join, easy to access. (The barograph I purchased in ‘82)
The trim cover is off the track attaching nuts, looking for a drip!
