Ahoy. We are doing a pre-purchase survey tomorrow. Taking a preview look at the boat today, we noticed the mast is two parts, butt-joined just below the spreaders with an array of flathead bolts. Is that how the T37 masts were originally built?

Yes they are two sections bolted together.
I never had a problem with my mast since new in 1981.
Good luck with the purchase.

I wonder why they did the splice instead of solid spar? I recall Cabo Rico did it because it was cheaper to ship half-spars in 40' containers to Costa Rica.
