You know, I never even thought to take it to a dipper, but that would've saved a lot of time. We won't mention it, though. The ladies slathered it up with stripper the night before, did some scraping, pressure washed and sanded.
Another coat of Petit barrier coat going on today. The stuff dries like a ceramic finish. One gallon at a time, see where we stand. Boat gets moved to somewhere "cleaner" in the yard on Friday. It's like a rolling fist fight to get anything done. Note the friggin' giant sandpile off the stbd quarter. Constantly blowing across the hull and filling the cockpit with gravel. And they keep stuffing pallets, blocking and other shit around the boat, seemingly so I can't get at it. I finally lost it and we've all agreed this is bullshit.
I've dropped the refit back to "float, float, go forward go forward." That was always my mantra on refit, and I wasn't practicing it here. The idea is it floats and all thru hulls are solid, serviceable, the rig is solid, the engine runs. Focus. I want to be around D.C. in October, leave it on a friend's dock, keep shoving south. I was going to go out and down from Maine, maybe stopping in Bermuda, but friends have convinced me I need to do the Bahamas. And I haven't been to the DR since the late 1980's. I'd probably skip Luperon and make as much easting as possible toward Samana from the T&C, but we'll see.
